Jobs Bill Vs New Deal Pt 4

By; Ella Williams

We are now entering into a new electoral year; America has gone through some drastic changes.
When President Bush departed the White House and to help the transition of the oncoming Administration to run smooth and to brief President Obama on the things that affect America and the situation and circumstances of thing he must know.

Many people believe the stimulus package passed by the Democrats did not save nor create new jobs based on the current unemployment numbers.  However; that is a lie from the Republican Party according to fact check.org the stimulus created; and saved between 1.4 to 3.3 million jobs.
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, more commonly known as the stimulus bill, had been featured in more than 130 TV ads, according to a database maintained by Kantar Media’s Campaign Media Analysis Group. In many of those ads, Republicans claimed the bill had "failed" (that is matter of opinions). The unemployment had gone up since President Barack Obama signed the bill into law on Feb. 17, 2009. The national unemployment rate was 8.2 percent in February 2009, and it was at 9.6 percent, having peaked at 10.1 percent in October 2009.   The unemployment rate dropped from 9.6 and it is presently at 9.1 2011.
But it’s just false to say that the stimulus created "no jobs" or "failed to save and create jobs" or "has done nothing to reduce unemployment" – or similar claims that the stimulus did not produce any jobs.
According to  the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office released a report in August that said the stimulus bill has "lowered the unemployment rate by between 0.7 percentage points and 1.8 percentage points" and "increased the number of people employed by between 1.4 million and 3.3 million."
As I stated in the last article this is why I feel that the jobs bill should be passed, if the stimulus indeed stimulated the economy, then it is a proven fact that the government does play an effective role in the economy.
The effects of the stimulus are demonstrating effectiveness in the private sector jobs.  We are seeing jobs added; however we are losing jobs according to some CEO’s of major companies because there is no demand.  This is why it is imperative that we call our congress make our points made to pass the job’s bill.  Infrastructure for instance will spiral a demand for American products such as steel, concrete, nails, hammers, drills, sand, paint etc... Then diners get costumers, restaurants start hiring people.  Is this not the American way!   We need jobs and the President can’t do it all by himself, it will take me, you and many more people to stand up, just like the occupiers are doing across the United States.  If you say that one voice can’t change anything, then one must ask self “If I call my congress and make my voice heard and the other millions of people do the same we can and we will see a change in our government. The Lord once told me that “racism was going to get really bad, but we would be surprised with how He was going to deal with it” Black, White, Chinese, Spanish, the young, the old, middleclass, poor and even some rich are standing up and making their voices heard.
If this is what the Lord was speaking about, then He has already begun a great and mighty work.
Help Get This Job Bill Passed!

Jobs Bill VS new Deal Pt 3

As I searched historical information on the Great Depression, I found many parallels with the situation that President Obama walked into and what President Roosevelt had to deal with.  I shares with you factual details of all the programs that were from the New Deal...
President Obama walked into a presidency with a large deficit, 2 wars, Medicare D program not paid for, millions of people were losing their jobs, companies going bankrupt, financial companies failing, automobile companies drowning in debt, foreclosures of homes and too big to fail banks were failing and on top of that tax payers money bailed the banks out without many stipulations under Bush.  President Obama walked into a mess with optimism that he could bring a change for America.  The stimulus he and the democrats passed brought private sector jobs, stopped people from losing their jobs; such as people like me.  Many jobs were saved through this stimulus.  The stimulus was even good for republican’s states that were in need of the funds for different needs within their states.  There presently is a republican candidate running for president that used the stimulus to balance his state budge.  What was so very hilarious was not one Republican voted for the stimulus; however there were many whom took advantage of the stimulus for their by posing with the people of their district or a posing for ribbon cutting ceremonies .
The Republicans of the 20’s and 30’s gave President Roosevelt an opportunity to try and fix the American economy and as President’s Obama stimulus failed in many sectors, so did Roosevelt; however we still presently use some of the those programs from the big deal.  The GDP was beginning to grow, but the Republicans’ said lets budget our deficits and the economy slowly went into a recession.  What brought America back was the war.  People were working and things were being developed, manufactured and the people pulled together and came forth from those dark days in America’s history.
What we are seeing is a parallel of history and the question one must ask will we learn from the past or will we ignore the history that took place before many of us were ever born?

I will conclude with this particular blog on segment four of the Jobs Bill and why I feel we need to act.

Jobs Bill Vs New Deal PT 2

Jobs Bill Vs New Deal PT 2
By: Ella Williams

In the first blog, I spoke about the causes of the Great Depression and I wanted to point out the parallels between our present state vs. our past.  In the book of Ecclesiastics it speaks about that there is nothing that has not happen before and there is nothing new under the sun.  America came close to a repeat of the Great Depression.
On Monday, October 6, 2008, the market experienced eight consecutive trading days of negative movement starting on October 1, 2008.  The table below shows the decline of the Dow Jones Industrial Average from October 1st through October 10th.
America was facing a stock market crash, the banks were failing and there was nothing being manufactured in America and our financial system blew up after Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc was one of the fourth largest global financial banks in America.  Due to stock lost and bad investments the company filed for bankruptcy and some believe this was the beginning of the hell America began to face.
Unlike President Hoover ideology; Bush made attempt to try and stop the failing economy by bailing out the banks without stipulation to keep America from going in to a free fall.
When President Obama came into office he walked into a messed left by President Bush, Republican congress and Administration. Doesn’t this share a familiar to Obama’s inheritance of a large failing economy? In 1933 President Roosevelt walked into a mess left by the republican President?  President Roosevelt believed that the Government needed to take steps to help Americans to get back on their feet and here are the programs he came up with to help bring America out of the Great Depression.
1. CCC - Civilian Conservation Corps
The Civilian Conservation Corps was created in 1933 by Franklin D. Roosevelt to combat unemployment. This work relief program had the desired effect and provided jobs for many Americans during the Great Depression. The CCC was responsible for building many public works and created structures and trails in parks across the nation.
2. CWA - Civil Works Administration
The Civil Works Administration was created in 1933 to create jobs for the unemployed. Its focus on high paying jobs in the construction arena resulted in a much greater expense to the federal government than originally anticipated. The CWA ended in 1934 in large part due to opposition to its cost.

3. FHA - Federal Housing Administration
The Federal Housing Administration was a government agency created to combat the housing crisis of the Great Depression. The large number of unemployed workers combined with the banking crisis created a situation in which banks recalled loans. The FHA was designed to regulate mortgages and housing conditions.
4. FSA - Federal Security Agency
The Federal Security Agency established in 1939 had the responsibility for several important government entities. Until it was abolished in 1953, it administered social security, federal education funding, and food and drug safety.
5. HOLC - Home Owner's Loan Corporation
The Home Owner's Loan Corporation was created in 1933 to assist in the refinancing of homes. The housing crisis created a great many foreclosures, and Franklin Roosevelt hoped this new agency would stem the tide. In fact, between 1933 and 1935 one million people received long term loans through the agency that saved their homes from foreclosure.
6. NRA - National Recovery Act
The National Recovery Act was designed to bring the interests of working class Americans and business together. Through hearings and government intervention the hope was to balance the needs of all involved in the economy. However, the NRA was declared unconstitutional in the landmark Supreme Court case Schechter Poultry Corp. v. US. The Supreme Court ruled that the NRA violated the separation of powers.
7. PWA - Public Works Administration
The Public Works Administration was a program created to provide economic stimulus and jobs during the Great Depression. The PWA was designed to create public works and continued until the US ramped up wartime production for World War II. It ended in 1941.
8. SSA - Social Security Act
The Social Security Act was designed to combat the widespread poverty among senior citizens. The government program provided income to retired wage earners. The program has become one of the most popular government programs and is funded by current wage earners and their employers. However, in recent years concerns have arisen about the viability of continuing to fund the program as the Baby Boom generation reaches retirement age.

Jobs bills Vs New Deal

                                                           Jobs bills Vs New Deal

As I look at the economy it reminds of a time that many of my age group would not and could understand.  In 1929 black Tuesday the stock market crashed, and many people of those days were not prepared to have an economy that devastated not just America but the World.
There are five causes of the worsted economy in America’s history the Great Depression.  President Hoover was the President during the time the depression began.  It was his ideology that limited government was the best way to steer through the economy.  Does this sound familiar?
Here are five reasons America went into a great Depression according to historians and economist.
. Stock Market Crash of 1929
Many believe erroneously that the stock market crash that occurred on a Black Tuesday, October 29, 1929 is one and the same with the Great Depression. In fact, it was one of the major causes that led to the Great Depression. Two months after the original crash in October, stockholders had lost more than $40 billion dollars. Even though the stock market began to regain some of its losses, by the end of 1930, it just was not enough and America truly entered what is called the Great Depression
2. Bank Failures
Throughout the 1930s over 9,000 banks failed. Bank deposits were uninsured and thus as banks failed people simply lost their savings. Surviving banks, unsure of the economic situation and concerned for their own survival, stopped being as willing to create new loans. This exacerbated the situation leading to less and less expenditures.
3. Reduction in Purchasing Across the Board
With the stock market crash and the fears of further economic woes, individuals from all classes stopped purchasing items. This then led to a reduction in the number of items produced and thus a reduction in the workforce. As people lost their jobs, they were unable to keep up with paying for items they had bought through installment plans and their items were repossessed. More and more inventory began to accumulate. The unemployment rate rose above 25% which meant, of course, even less spending to help alleviate the economic situation.
4. American Economic Policy with Europe
As businesses began failing, the government created the Smoot-Hawley Tariff in 1930 to help protect American companies. This charged a high tax for imports thereby leading to less trade between America and foreign countries along with some economic retaliation.
5. Drought Conditions
While not a direct cause of the Great Depression, the drought that occurred in the Mississippi Valley in 1930 was of such proportions that many could not even pay their taxes or other debts and had to sell their farms for no profit to themselves. The area was nicknamed "The Dust Bowl." This was the topic of John Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath.

People are rising up; for their voices to be heard

By: Ella Williams
We are living in the last days, and there are many people that are not ready for the days to come.  I am a person that believes that to voice one’s opinions or thoughts can bring a small change.  We are in a society that the richer are becoming wealthier; the middle class is disappearing and becoming the new poor and the poor are poorer.  The Government believes that it is more important to appease the wealthy and not help the poor.  Many of the Republicans declared themselves to be conservatives and people of faith.
Let’s talk about the people of faith; Cut the Leheap program, cut Pell Grants, cut childcare for working poor, cut social security by privatizing, cut Medicare and make it a voucher program, get rid of Medicaid and repeal the health care bill.  Jesus speaks of giving and doing for the poor and to become men and women of love.  How could these men and women sit back and say let’s cut all the programs and continue to protect the rich.  Example the Republican congress came up with 9 abortion bills, several cutting bills and no jobs bill.  American working classes must wait until the 2012 elections are over to see some sort of relief.  The unemployed need to continue to be homeless because their unemployment check stopped.  What kind of Christians are these?  One Republican loves to speak of being a born again Christian that just have a lying problem.  Wonder who this is?  “Michelle Bachman.” She loves to speak about her faith, but out of the same mouth she will say President Obama will be a one term president and he is not the leader for America.  Since she is a born again believer, what she should have been saying to the people pray for our president and those around him, so that he will do a good job for our country.  Not call the man a socialist or all kinds of negative names.
The republicans ran on “our first priority is creating jobs”.  People believed the hype and well still no jobs bill.  “Oh yea, before I forget to mention, social bills such as abortion bills were top priority with this Republican Congress”.
Boehner said President Obama needs to stop the speeches and present to them a bill on paper then they will be able talk about doing something for the economy.  Guess what President Obama presented a jobs bill and how to pay for it.  We are in a year of elections and we the people must wait until the 2012 elections are here to voice our opinions by voting.  It saddens me that a group of people will work so hard to destroy President Obama and bring America down on her needs for money and power
America stand up and let your voices be heard lend a hand to those that have stood up and raise their voices about the dilemma our nation has become.  Pray for our leaders, that they will do the right thing for this nation.  We may not be wealthy, powerful and own corporation but we are the people that make America work. To Congress you are elected officials by the people and for the people.  We have not forgotten how the debts were really occurred and we may be angry because one man could not bring the change he promised. He did not incur the debt, the Republicans and President Bush brought us from a balance budget to a very large deficit.  You say now you are people of conservatism, I say you should have been that before you deregulated many rules for Wall Street and placed our deficit higher to give tax cuts to the rich (job creators) that I call a joke.

GOP Full of Crap

What a time we are living today; the GOP will do anything it takes to fool Americans.  I watched the Ed show for September 1, 2011 and he showed two speeches given by US Senator Marco Rubio.  What was so sad was the hypocrisy of Rubio.  During a you tube message he spoke of how his family moved into America in the 1950’s and how Medicare paid for his father’s surgery.  He spoke of how his mother which is presently in the Medicare system. During a speech at the Reagan Library his tune changed.  He blamed Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid as the systems that have brought America down.  Earlier as he said Medicare was the backbone of medical insurance for his parents.  Ed challenged him to a debate and since he has called Ed and Rachael on MSNBC as liberal extremist; does that mean his parent were as well since both were on Medicare?  Please accept the debate.  I am sure the senior citizens would love to hear what you have to say.  Remember Rubio there are Republicans and Tea Party Seniors who are presently on Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security.  Oops…  Rubio that is the big 3!  So, Ed and Rachael there are millions of liberal extremist that are Senior Republicans wow!
